Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Among the many interesting statements sent in to the office during the year, indicative of the trend of thought, I think the following are worthy of report:

A well-known clergyman, vicar of a large city church, is reported to have said in a sermon, "I want you to begin next week to try to put self on one side, and love and think of others. This is what the Christian Scientists do, they endeavor to put self right on one side, and think more of others."

Another clergyman, while speaking on the teachings of Jesus to a large and mixed congregation, is reported to have said, "Christian Science teaches the reality of God by teaching the unreality of pain."
