I should like to add a sincere expression of gratitude to the many that have already been published in these columns.

For eleven long years I suffered intense agony, was attended by the best of physicians and specialists, only to be told that my case was hopeless, and that I should make up my mind to endure this pain and misery for the balance of my life. I continued to get worse, and was contemplating a proposed operation at the base of my spine. A well-known specialist frankly admitted that he knew of four persons who had had similar operations, and that one of the four was relieved to some extent while the remaining three were bedridden for life. This was so discouraging that my one thought was of suicide. I felt certain that eventually I would be a burden to myself and my family.

While I was discussing the proposed operation with a friend, a stranger approached me, admitting that he had overheard my conversation and, if I were interested, would like to relate his experience to me. I was very eager to hear his story, and upon listening was surprised to learn that he had received a very wonderful healing through Christian Science. When he had finished I thanked him, admitting that I did not believe I was quite ready for Science at that time; but his kindly talk had its effect and remained in my memory. I was approached on two different occasions after that, and then decided that probably there was hope for me. A practitioner who was recommended to me helped me to realize the truth. My first visit to him was on September 1, 1931; and just three weeks later I was grateful to be able to testify to the remarkable change which had come over me, both mentally and physically. Since then I have been blessed with a wonderful healing, although medical science had given me up. Words cannot express the gratitude in my heart to God and to those who led me out of darkness and ignorance into the light, as demonstrated through the study of the teachings of our beloved Leader.
