Although I have received healings in Christian Science...
Although I have received healings in Christian Science throughout the past twelve years, for a long period of time I did not gain a true sense of this wonderful religion and of what it has done for me and all mankind. After my marriage I realized the need of a sustaining power in the many problems that come up in the home. Often help was asked for and received. Physical difficulties were healed, employment obtained, and an intermittent study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly and of the literature was made.
The testing time came about four years ago, when I was stricken with heat prostration. The first week I steadily grew worse, until physically I was helpless and could not eat or drink. Absent treatment had been given and much wrong thinking eradicated, but I desired so much to see the practitioner that the work was transferred to one who would come and give me present treatment. I began to improve immediately, and although several weeks elapsed before I seemed normal, there was continual improvement. All the various socalled aftereffects predicted by outsiders were overcome.
This experience showed me the necessity for constant right thinking, for daily study of the Lesson-Sermon, the literature, and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, and for the practice of what little I understand of Christian Science. I am learning that we must rely wholly upon divine Mind, no matter what the need, if we wish to progress.
