THE LECTURES

Speaking before a large audience at the Grand Theater yesterday afternoon [April 16], Bliss Knapp of Boston expounded the doctrines of Christian Science in a most entertaining and interesting way. He was introduced by E. C. Miller, who spoke in part as follows,—

It must be admitted that the world is the gainer by any belief which tends to make its followers hopeful, helpful, and cheerful, in adversity as in prosperity. I believe that the Christian Science religion is doing much to make this a better and happier world for all. I have noticed that the members of the Christian Science church are looking always for the best in others—for the good in life. Many of my friends are Christian Scientists, and I have been impressed by the fact that without exception they seem to be happy, contented, generous, and hopeful. That Christian Science is cheering and satisfying is proved by the constantly increasing number of its adherents. If any of the statements made by the speaker who will address you this afternoon appear too good to believe, please remember that Christian Science asks you to believe nothing except that which can be proved.—Aberdeen World.
