In a recent address before the teachers in your city, a professor seems to have confused the teachings of Christian Science with hypnotism and mental suggestion. Had he studied Christian Science as taught in its text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, he would have found that Christian Science is as far removed from anything in the nature of hypnotism as daylight is different from darkness. He would have found that while the hypnotist believes in the power of both good and evil, and the power of one human mind to influence another for good and evil, Christian Science absolutely repudiates the human mind or will as a factor in the healing work, and teaches that God, the divine Mind, is the only healing power; and in proportion as the Christian Scientist realizes the divine presence and power and the nothingness and unreality of any other so-called power or agency, and in the proportion that he subjects his human mind or will to the divine Mind, the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus," can be prove God's allness in the healing of sin and sickness.
