In January, 1902, Christian Science was brought to my notice through a niece. I had been confined to the house for several months. I went to a noted health resort in Michigan with my husband, both of us expecting to take the baths, but at the first one I caught a violent cold. On my return home a physician was called, who pronounced my trouble asthma; he said that as it had come on late in life, I would never be well. I was compelled to sit up in bed, and while the physician did all in his power, I was not entirely healed until I took Christian Science treatment.

At the time of my illness the physician examined one of my eyes, as it was troubling me. At the age of thirteen I had lost the sight of my left eye, but was always able to see with the other. The physician said that an eye specialist must be called at once, that he would not be responsible for the sight of my eye, as I might become blind. This was done, and the specialist said that ulcers were forming on the pupil of my eye, which was closed and greatly enlarged. He prescribed the application of a remedy every two hours, a process which was very painful. I did not use my eye for three months, but I am now able to see nicely. From childhood I had suffered from severe headaches, being confined to bed for days at a time, but since I came into Science the headaches, which returned three times, have been entirely overcome. I have also been healed of catarrhal and heart trouble. The healing of some of these ills has been instantaneous. I am learning to understand God, and seldom need to call on a practitioner for help. I have also had some beautiful demonstrations for others. It is my earnest desire to be more Christlike. I have learned that the power of God is equal to every emergency and necessity, that He is available in all trouble.
