It is with a sense of devout thankfulness to God that I wish to express my gratitude for the daily help which the knowledge of Christian Science has been to me. I can now say with all truthfulness, "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings." Since early childhood I had been troubled with deafness in both ears and head noises. I had been treated by three physicians, but could get no help. Then for years I did nothing, thinking it was of no use to try any more; but about four years ago I called upon and was examined by one of the leading ear specialists in this city. He refused to take my case, saying that the eardrums were about gone, and with a heavy heart I gave up all hope of ever again hearing. One year ago, however, a Christian Science Sentinel was sent me, and I read and read it. I thought the testimonies of healing were wonderful, and I also thought that what God could do for one, He could do for all who sought His aid.

It was in this state of mind that I called upon a Christian Science practitioner. She made clear to me the truth of St. John's words: "Now are we the sons of God;" and after the first treatment I knew that I was not dependent upon medicated cotton for my hearing; so I took it out. To my great joy I found that I could hear better than ever before, although the specialist had said I could not hear at all without it. The first Sunday that I attended church, I could not hear the reading of the service; but the practitioner told me that I must listen and be very grateful if I heard but one word and let that one word be my sermon. And so it was; I became as a little child, and waited patiently for the Lord. The next Sunday, there was one word that I heard plainer than all the others. It was the word "Love." I studied that word to see how much I could gain from it, and I found it was the life, the truth, the way.

This proved to be the awakening for me,—the dawning of a new day. My healing began at once, and I am happy to say that I am now a member of Second Church of Christ, Scientist, and that there are very few words that
