One day in the summer of 1908, I scalded my left arm...
One day in the summer of 1908, I scalded my left arm very badly, but by steadily declaring that God is the only power, I suffered very little from the injury after the first few minutes. At another time I burned my fingers severely, but the same declaration that God is the only power so freed me from the usual results of a burn that I was able to use my needle in sewing with no difficulty or suffering whatever. Every winter I used to have very severe colds that would last late into the spring, and three times the condition of my lungs was such that the physicians considered me in great danger; but since my healing, eight years ago, through Christian Science, when no one supposed I could live much longer, I have not had more than two or three attacks and they were of short duration.
The testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal are very encouraging and helpful, and the other contributions often give me a clearer idea of how to work. I am very grateful for Christian Science.
