In reading a testimony in the Sentinel I was led to see...

In reading a testimony in the Sentinel I was led to see the mistake I had been making in not expressing gratitude for the good already received. In October, 1904, divine Love led me to take Christian Science treatment for a so-called incurable disease, from which I had suffered severely for twenty years. All that the attending physicians had been able to do was to give an opiate to relieve me, and in this way the habit of using it was formed. This afterward made me its slave. I often tried to quit its use, yet was never able to do so. Today, with a heart filled with gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me, and in the hope that this testimony may help some others to gain their freedom, I can say that in one treatment all desire for the drug was destroyed. This was proof to me that Christian Science is indeed the Christ-healing.

Since then I have passed through some great trials, but always depended on Truth to deliver me, and I have never found it wanting. Although part of my healing has to mortal sense seemed slow, even for this am I learning to be thankful. It is teaching me each day something new about Truth, Life, and Love, which brings the peace that passes mortal man's understanding. I wish to express the great love and gratitude I feel for all the kindly help I have had on my journey from sense to Soul; also for the Journal and Sentinel, each copy of which brings such help and comfort, especially to those who live in the country, away from all Scientists (as do I), and they are truly appreciated. There are only a very few of the many reasons which I have for gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy for this way of Truth which is revealed through the Bible and the Christian Science text-book.
