Freely I have received, and freely do I give my testimony,...
Freely I have received, and freely do I give my testimony, trusting that others may derive as much benefit therefrom as has come to me. On the 25th of May, 1907, I was instantaneously healed of blood-poisoning. Materia medica had been tried to its uttermost, and only as a last resort did I turn to God, but He was both ready and willing to receive and to heal me! We called a Christian Science practitioner, and before she reached me—in fact, in about ten minutes—I knew that I was healed, for such a sense of peace and rest came to me. The doctors had said I had only about two hours to live, but instead of being arrayed in my grave-clothes, I got up within that time and dressed myself, and never felt better in my life. About this time I began to feel hungry, and on being told by the Christian Science practitioner that I might have anything to eat that I wanted, I ate a hearty meal, although for three weeks I had only been able to take liquids.
While I am truly thankful for this healing, for having been spared to my husband and little ones, it seems almost nothing compared with the spiritual uplifting which has come to me, and of which I am obtaining more and more by overcoming the belief in evil, and through the study of that dear book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Another thing for which I feel very grateful is that I have been led to Truth in the babyhood of my children. Ever since I have been a mother I have prayed more earnestly for God's guidance in rearing my little ones than for any other one thing; prayed that I might bring them up in the way they should go, but I never knew "the way" until Christian Science revealed it to me.
Christian Science is bringing added blessings to me and mine daily, and I do feel very thankful to God, and to all who have helped me in word or deed. I feel that we can never be grateful enough to dear Mrs. Eddy for her purity and for the life of unselfed love which she has given to the world. God bless her, and help us to follow faithfully as she directs.—Hattie L. Taylor, Dallas, Tex.
