Three years ago I heard about Christian Science and its many demonstrations of the truth. I was at that time very nervous, and it seemed impossible for me to go out alone because I had so much fear. I consulted many physicians and used medicines without any result. I had suffered in this way for about seven years, so I was very discouraged and felt that I could not be healed.

A practitioner in Amsterdam told me much about Christian Science and of the healing power of Truth, and on my request she gave me treatment. After a few weeks I went alone for short distances, and after two months I went by myself to a town in the neighborhood and called on my brother, who was very much surprised to see me alone, as this had not happened for many years. The practitioner told me to have no fear, as God is always with us, and she repeated to me the words of St. John, "Perfect love casteth out fear." My bodily condition also was changed, the headaches disappeared and I began to feel stronger. After five months I no longer needed treatment. In that same time I had a severe attack of bowel trouble, so bad that I had to stay in bed on account of high fever and severe pains, but the practitioner helped me to overcome this disease, and within a week I went out.
