THE LECTURES

The semiannual lecture on Christian Science under the auspices of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Mass., was given by Frank H. Leonard, a member of the board of lectureship of that church, in the church edifice, Falmouth, Norway, and St. Paul streets, Thursday evening, Nov. 17, at 8 o'clock. Every available seat in the auditorium was taken when Judge Clifford P. Smith, First Reader of The Mother Church, introduced the lecturer. Judge Smith said,—

It is a testimony to the truth of Christian Science that it has drawn to its service such men and women as compose its board of lectureship. Those who have spoken from this platform in the last few years were formerly students, teachers, scholars, lawyers, judges, physicians, or clergymen. Tonight we are to hear one who was formerly a city business man,—a successful man of affairs in the largest American city. Before entering upon his present work he dealt in carloads and shiploads of coal, and recognized nothing more to be desired than hard cash. Of the fact that his table of values has now been revised we shall doubtless get some glimpses as he speaks to us on Christian Science. It is now my privilege to introduce to you Frank H. Leonard of New York.
