At the Episcopal convention in Cincinnati the subject of healing by faith and prayer was referred to a committee, instead of being referred to the Scriptures, where Mrs. Eddy found it and built her flourishing church upon it. Nothing in the New Testament is more clear than that Christ came as a healer. He repeatedly made his healing the test and proof of the divinity he claimed. He expressly transmitted the healing power to his disciples, ordering them not only to "preach the gospel," but to "heal the sick." He insisted that the vitalizing effect of his doctrines could raise the dead. Protestant churches that violate the Scriptures by ignoring this healing power do not need to be instructed by a committee, but by a prayerful study of the book which they profess to accept as the word of God.
