"Thou shalt have no other gods before me"

An erroneous belief regarding Christian Science is held by many persons; viz., that it is merely a means of healing sickness, but we believe this narrow concept of its mission is fast giving place to the understanding that this Science heals both sickness and sin just as our Master healed them at the dawn of Christianity.

It was hard for those who persecuted Jesus to understand that his ministry involved the destruction of all error, the salvation of mankind from every false belief concerning God and the universe, yet that was his work, and it was for this work that he was reviled, persecuted, and crucified.

Jesus made clear the intimate relation existing between sin and sickness when he said to the "man which was taken with a palsy," "Man, thy sins are forgiven thee," and to the scribes and Pharisees, "What reason ye in your hearts? Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house."
