[Written for the Sentinel.]

Be Not Afraid

The Love that breathed out "Peace, be still!"
O'er stormy Galilee,
While error's wave made swift response—
'Tis this Love loveth thee,
Loveth and calmeth thee.
The love that fed the wanderers
With heavenly manna free,
With loaves and fishes fed the hosts—
'Tis this Love loveth thee,
Loveth and feedeth thee.

The love that held a Daniel safe
In Spirit's purity,
'Mid lions hungry but for flesh—
'Tis this Love loveth thee,
Loveth and keepeth thee.

The Love that whispered, "Ephphatha"
Speaks, oh! so tenderly,
To every list'ning, waiting one—
'Tis this love loveth thee, Loveth and healeth thee.
