It is now two years since I became interested in Christian Science, and I desire to testify to the benefits received. Prior to taking up the study of Christian Science I had for ten years or more suffered constantly from chronic constipation and from frequent attacks of indigestion. I had taken many kinds of medicine, without any lasting relief. Plenty of exercise was supposed to be the only thing that would result in permanent benefit, and my work kept me sitting in an office all the time. I was brought up in an orthodox church, although I had drifted out of it, and my father was a doctor, so that I was thoroughly prejudiced against Christian Science. When I was finally induced to attend a Christian Science church, I did so with no expectation of going more than once. However, as it turned out, I did not miss a single meeting for many months. I took up the study of Science and Health, and although I did not do so with any faith that I would be healed, or with that as my main object, within a couple of weeks the troubles mentioned had been entirely overcome and I have not taken a drop of medicine since. I have also been greatly benefited in other ways. As so many others have said, the physical benefits which I received were as nothing compared with the improvement in myself, morally and spiritually, and in my changed views of life, and my feeling towards others.
It is my earnest desire to live every day more of the truth as made clear to us through Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other writings, and thus to show my gratitude for all the benefits I have received through Christian Science.
