"Truth's prism and praise"
On page 558 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy says: "To mortal sense Science seems at first obscure, abstract, and dark; but a bright promise crowns its brow. When understood, it is Truth's prism and praise. When you look it fairly in the face, you can heal by its means, and it has for you a light above the sun, for God 'is the light thereof.'"
Many of us may recall, as one of our cherished childhood possessions, a simple little piece of glass known as a prism. By allowing the sun's rays to pass through it, we were able to produce a rainbow that delighted us and called forth exclamations of joy from eager little spectators. So, it needs but the sunlight of divine Love, shining through our understanding of Christian Science, to bring to view God's loving kindness.
Through the prism of Truth, divine Science understood, we see not only a rainbow of great promise, but Truth manifested; divine promises fulfilled. We see love, honesty, peace, health, patience, mercy, and other qualities of good appearing, where once error claimed these to be absent. And when, singly or collectively, these qualities of divine hue are manifested, does not the heart sing a song of truest praise to God?
