Letting God's Angels Have Charge

What comfort and inspiration come to us through the Psalmist's words, "He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways;" for they promise the refuge which mankind has long been seeking! In order to find this haven, however, one must be receptive of good; and this mental state entails preparation.

To believe that God will give His angels charge over us is not all that is required: we must let them have charge; then we shall surely enjoy their protecting presence. Of the nature of angels Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, leaves us in no doubt, for in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 581) she gives us this heartening definition: "Angels. God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality."

"Angels," then, are right thoughts coming from God, the source of all good! These right thoughts are always available, and cannot be monopolized or obstructed. For instance, one can entertain the thought of protection for an indefinite period, yet there will be an unlimited supply of this divine quality for everyone else.
