The Atmosphere of Our Church Services
A dictionary defines "atmosphere" as "that by which one is surrounded." Thus, in a sense, the atmosphere of a room may be regarded as the expression of the thoughts of those who are occupying it. Similarly, the general standard of any epoch rises or falls according to the quality of individual thinking.
How joyous it is to contemplate the reflection of the ideas of Truth, Life, and Love by all who, throughout the world, are striving to live according to the light which Christian Science gives. This spiritual atmosphere everywhere accompanies those who understand God. It is their protection; and it can be felt by those with whom they come in contact and to whom it may bring peace and healing.
Answering a summons for aid, a Christian Scientist once entered a shop, where she listened to the person who had sent for her. Another woman with bent form, who had apparently been indifferent to what was going on, soon left the shop. But a few minutes later she came back to say that she had been healed of a severe headache which had troubled her since morning.
