[Written for the Sentinel]

The Invitation

Art thou weary of the struggle?
Come and rest a while
In the place of Truth's protection,
Come and feel the benediction
Of God's gracious smile.

Thou wilt find the yoke still easy,
And the burden light;
Come and heed the gentle pleading,
Learn the lesson that is leading
Out of error's night.

Hear the call, O heavy laden,
All that are oppressed;
Leave thy sickness, sin, and sorrow;
Come, wait not until tomorrow:
Truth will give thee rest.

Rest so quiet, deep, inspiring,
It will waken you
To a present, sure salvation,
To life-giving transformation—
Come, and find Love true!
