How often does the student of Christian Science join the psalmist in saying, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits"! Is not this truly an admonition to count the many blessings bestowed on us by the Father's loving hand?

How little we knew about these blessings before we learned through Christian Science that "gratitude and love should abide in every heart each day of all the years" (Church Manual, Art. XVII, Sect. 2). When clouds of discouragement or a sense of lack would hide from us the ever-presence of divine Love, is it not a sure remedy to count our blessings? How sad and hopeless seemed the road when we knew not how to stretch out the helping hand and provide the healing touch which has been revealed to us through the teachings of Christian Science! Is not every dark place made light, and are not hungry hearts fed and our brothers' needs met through the application of the divine Principle? What cause for gratitude!

The writer remembers a little incident which seemed to bring a ray of sunshine and happiness. One hot day in the train she and two other Christian Scientists found themselves in a compartment with a little boy who apparently was traveling by himself. A second glance showed that his eyes were swollen and inflamed, and he looked unhappy; so the truth was promptly realized that all is infinite Mind, divine Love, and that neither suffering nor unhappiness can exist in the presence of divine Love. Then, forgetting all about the little boy, she picked up her paper and began to read, when suddenly she became aware of something being pushed along the seat toward her. On looking up she found a little hand stretching out a box of sweets, and when she took a piece, with a surprised and delighted "Thank you!" a happy smile spread over the little fellow's face. Next he offered his precious sweets to her two companions.
