Christian Science is an orderly arrangement for efficient service of truths that have always existed. The moment you claim reality for evil you are in a worse dilemma than in claiming reality or eternality for matter.

Do you doubt that God is the only cause and creator? Do you regard the First Commandment? Then if evil is real, God must be its creator. If not, you must have other gods creating evil. Why is it necessary to ascribe reality to evil any more than to darkness, which is only the absence of light? Is there any such thing as two and two bring five? Yet you have seen this combination of figures many times on the blackboard, and you can if you wish fill the board with it; but no matter how many times you reproduce the error, it will not change the fact that two and two are four.
