Our critic asked, "Why, if Christian Science was a revelation, did Mrs. Eddy revise the text-book, 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures'?" Probably the meaning of the word revelation confused our critic, for the word does not necessarily mean a sudden inspiration. Taking the dictionary definition, it means an act or process; and as process takes place a step at a time, so the writing of Science and Health was perfected a step at a time.

"The book 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' is the Christian Science Bible," declared our critic. This is not true, for Christian Scientists use for their study and in church service the same Bible used by all orthodox denominations. Science and Health is the text-book of Christian Science, and does not take the place of the Bible in any respect. The gentleman is quoted as having said that Christian Science is not growing. If the Christian Science movement is not growing, why is there so much and such persistent opposition to it by the ministers?

"If it were not for the healing part of Christian Science, the cult would die in six months," declared our critic. One might ask, in reply to this, how much progress the teachings of Jesus would have made if he had not accompanied them with healing. "Christian Science is based on selfshness, and has no sympathy with suffering and sorrow," our critic is quoted as having said. As Christian Science heals sickness, selfishness, suffering, and sorrow, as thousands of authentic testimonies declare, it is difficult to see how any one can have such a view of this religion. The statement requires no further denial than to say that by its fruits Christian Science is known.
