I wish to take this opportunity to express my gratitude...

I wish to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the many blessings received through a slight understanding of Christian Science. This teaching was in my family for a number of years, but it did not seem to mean anything to me, beyond being a remedy for a few minor physical ailments.

I had the mistaken opinion that I must be religiously inclined, or rather spiritually minded, before I would love this truth as Christian Scientists around me did, and I waited, hopelessly of course, for a change in my consciousness which never came. A few years ago a very unhappy experience awoke me to the realization that it was doing me no good to wait and bemoan the fact that this truth had not come to me, but that I must seek and actually utilize it every moment of my life in order to make it my own and derive any lasting benefit. This was not an easy matter by any means at first, but finally I really learned to love to study the Bible and Science and Health, a thing which I had thought impossible.

Today, whether there are any outward manifestations of this regeneration or not, I know that within there is a greater peace than I have ever known, and a wonderful knowledge that I am on the right road; that I have a Principle whereby every day I am enabled to meet and destroy, as unreal, every suggestion of evil, such as self-pity, fear, envy, unhappiness, and, last but not least, lack of love. These have not been entirely overcome, but I have the assurance that as I learn more of this truth these false beliefs will become less real and will finally be destroyed. I am indeed thankful to God for this great truth.—Helen M. Tracht, Fort Worth, Texas.
