In November, 1908, I was taken suddenly with a very serious attack of spinal disease. This began on Wednesday evening, and Thursday help was called. That night the suffering was intense, and Friday morning all pulsation and heart action had apparently ceased, and although I knew my mother, also the practitioner, I could not answer when they spoke to me, nor could I move. The following Sunday relief came at last, though just at evening the hardest struggle of all came on, and this lasted until about six o'clock the next morning, when the battle was won. I had eaten nothing since the Wednesday I was taken ill, and there had been no action or movement during this time to show any signs of life. During this time I was so deaf that when any one wished to speak to me it was necessary to get as close as possible, and fairly shout. The deafness was the slowest to yield completely, it being some four or five weeks before I could hear perfectly. I am happy to say that when this had been overcome there were no other after effects, though these are dreaded as much if not more than the disease itself. To say I am thankful to God for this healing would but feebly express my thoughts.

I have had many other proofs of the healing power of Truth, which I have always found a very present help in time of need. I was completely healed in one treatment of a lifelong stomach disorder, and was almost instantaneously healed of a severely injured ankle. Quite recently I was thrown from an automobile and had my left arm badly injured just above the wrist. Although I had quite a number of black and blue spots on my body, there was no soreness whatever, and I lost practically no sleep from my arm and suffered very little pain. The setting was done without the use of an anesthetic, and was considered very unusual by those who helped and do not understand Christian Science. When the splints were removed the healing was pronounced perfect, and it was remarked that I had got along unusually well.

I could tell many more demonstrations of the healing power of Christian Science, as we have tested it most thoroughly in our family. My desire is to prove my gratitude rather than tell it, and thus show that I really am grateful to God; also to Mrs. Eddy, and to all those who have so kindly helped me.
