About a year ago I was suddenly stricken with a severe attack of asthma, this being the season of the year at which I had been attacked for fifteen years or more. Usually I would be under the care of a doctor for weeks and often had to take opiates before I could get relief; but on this occasion my suffering was so great I could get no help till I wrote to a Christian Science practitioner telling her how I was suffering and asking her to help me by absent treatment. My letter was mailed early in the morning on Monday, and must have reached her that evening. I did not notice just what hour in the evening it was when I felt inclined to go out on the veranda for a while, though it must have been shortly after seven o'clock. I felt as though a great weight had been lifted from me, and a sense of peace and rest such as I had never before experienced came to me.

My friends all noticed the change, and asked me how I was feeling, and they were astonished to hear me say I was perfectly well. This was the beginning of the end of the asthma, which had heretofore lasted for weeks and even months. As I feel that I should make this statement brief, I shall not enter into the details, but so far I have had no pain and am improving all the time. I arranged to start on a long journey, alone, in a few days after the healing, and I had no fear, for I knew that God is Love and that He would be with me always and everywhere.
