When I first heard of Christian Science I was suffering...

When I first heard of Christian Science I was suffering intensely from stricture of the throat and extreme nervousness, being obliged to have the throat dilated twice a week by a noted specialist. I had taken such quantities of medicine in past years that I had not only lost my faith in it, but was even afraid it would poison me. To say I was miserable does not begin to tell what a hopeless state I was in.

One day a Christian Scientist told me that God did not make me sick, that it was His will I should be well. This new idea was like a strong rope thrown out to a drowning man. I clung to it, commenced to read Science and Health, and took treatment immediately. In about three months I was entirely healed, and this was over ten years ago. A tendency to take cold frequently was also overcome. I was seldom free from a cold or sore throat, but I was healed in one night of a very severe attack of throat trouble.

One other instance of healing is so wonderful and beautiful to me that no words can ever half express my gratitude for it. A bladder and kidney affection had caused me much pain and inconvenience for a number of years, at times being almost more than I could endure. I had had much treatment from several practitioners, each giving me some relief. One day, when all the symptoms of this trouble were very much aggravated, I was sitting in my bedroom reading The Christian Science Journal, when like a flash of light the thought came to me that I was healed! Jumping up, I ran across the room. It was true! I was truly healed, and the healing was permanent. The joy of this sudden relief and uplifting was so overwhelming that words fail me when I try to speak of my unbounded gratitude.
