As I realize the many blessings which Christian Science...

As I realize the many blessings which Christian Science has brought to my home, I feel that I would be neglecting a sacred duty if I should fail to acknowledge them. I did not come into Science for my personal healing, but was led by "a little child." Five years ago I stood by what seemed to be the death-bed of my month-old babe. The physician had given me very little hope of raising her, and she had been under his constant care, as well as that of a trained nurse, since her birth. When she was three weeks old she was taken very ill, the troubles being complicated. Everything that materia medica could do was done, but our babe grew rapidly worse. For thirty-six hours she was unable to swallow any nourishment, or even the medicine prescribed by the physician. The appearances were all very alarming, but not until I realized that mortal man could do nothing more for my child, did I turn to our heavenly Father for help. One morning, when it seemed that the child could not last more than a few hours, we telegraphed a Christian Science practitioner to treat her. An hour after the message had been received, the worst symptoms ceased, and the little form which an hour before seemed so racked with pain now lay quiet; the babe was peacefully sleeping. Surely "the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword." When the physician returned he was much surprised to see the wonderful change, and asked me to remove the child's clothing that he might examine her thoroughly. After his examination he laid the little one in my arms with the remark that she was normal. One week from that day we took the child on a journey of over five hundred miles with no ill effects. She is now a strong healthy child of five years, the very picture of health.

Another beautiful demonstration was in the case of our little boy. At the age of sixteen months he had whoopingcough, and when it was (according to material medica) at its worst stage he swallowed a penny. For a while he seemed very ill, but I am thankful that I felt no fear. The following verse from Isaiah was such a comfort to me at this time: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." I seemed to realize that the verse was for me, and all I had to do was to know that the promises are fulfilled. With the help of a faithful practitioner the demonstration was made. The child was well, and gaining flesh rapidly, when he threw up the copper, which had been in his stomach for six weeks.

Surely no one has more cause to be grateful to Christian Science than I, for I feel that I owe the lives of both my children to this blessed truth. My heart is filled with gratitude to the one who spent so many years in untiring toil for the benefit of humanity. My daily prayer is that I may so live as to be worthy to be called a Christian Scientist.—Mrs. Annie Lee Kenner, Anniston, Ala.
