After two years' earnest study of Christian Science, and...

After two years' earnest study of Christian Science, and having through the daily reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" assimilated in some measure the spirit of the truth which maketh free, having furthermore experienced many blessings and also witnessed their coming to others, I feel that the time has arrived for me to express my deep gratitude to God, and also to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, by testifying to some of the experiences above alluded to.

I came to this life-giving source some ten years ago, after my sister had been healed through Christian Science treatment of a long-standing trouble. Although I fully trusted the truth as revealed in the Christian Science textbook, I was slow to grasp the spirit. Under the pressure of domestic difficulties and conditions which at that time seemed to me cruel and insurmountable realities, my thought was filled with fear, doubt, and gloomy images for the future. Various experiences in daily life brought up problems which seemingly could not be solved. Human relations upon closer examination proved to be unreliable. I could see neither aim nor purpose in material existence, with all its seeming sorrow, pain, and toil, and I was more than anxious to know what life really meant. Through occasional loving help from the Christian Science practitioner here, and the study of the Christian Science textbook, I have gradually found an answer to all my questions. The discouraging thought that material existence and the various duties therewith connected is without purpose has entirely left me, and I have since been a happier and more contented woman. I now greet every coming day with the joyful thought that there is plenty of useful work to be done in God's vineyard, and that no good thought which we think, no kind word which we speak to our fellow-beings, nor any good deed done, can be lost or be in vain, but that through all these minor and greater expressions of love we may help bring about the kingdom of God on earth.

I am truly grateful to Mrs. Eddy that, through revealing the truth as taught and lived by Jesus, she has shown us the way whereby we may lead a holy life, acceptable unto God. It is my most sincere desire to devote my time and strength to the cause of Christian Science.
