What is it that inspires all these testimonies that appear in the Christian Science periodicals? Is it not the unerring Principle, divine Love, whose nature it is to pour out blessings? It is this which urges me to express my gratitude for the showeres of blessings received through the Comforter, divine Science. I also feel deep gratitude toward Mrs. Eddy, who through her unselfed love has enabled us to understand Jesus' life and teachings. I was in utter despair over the problem of life, yet in a constant struggle for light. This resulted in a form of paralysis of my left arm and hand. Some faithful friends convinced me that I should abandon my plans and arrangements for an operation and try Christian Science. The healing was accomplished within six weeks. The rejoicing for this, and my gratitude, were at once noticeable in regeneration, and the joy was almost overwhelming. It seemed to land me on the top of the mountain, where I would fain make my abode. It however became necessary for me to descend very humbly into the valley, and I had to learn to take the steps patiently, one by one, and to retrace all those not taken rightly. While with the sudden effulgence of the dawning light of Truth there appeared a sense of freedom, now in the valley there came a sense of darkness, of utter unworthiness. Yet this latter state has proven to be the beginning of "the preparation of the heart" which Truth demands.—Sophie Fernow, New York, N. Y.
