In the light of Christian Science the Bible is for me a wonderful treasure-house. I used to read it from a sense of duty and in the vain endeavor to find something satisfying and practical, but it seemed full of inexplicable contradictions. I now see why we are told to "search the Scriptures" and to seek until we find, and I thank God for the noble woman whose purity and spirituality enabled her to find again the treasure which Christ Jesus gave to the world so long ago and which seemed lost for a while. Christian Science has given me a satisfying and truly scientific explanation of our creator and of our relation to Him; it explains the seeming discords and mysteries of this life, and proves to me that a correct knowledge of God will overcome every difficulty.
In my own experience I have seen many problems solved through the application of the rules our dear Leader gives us in our text-book. I will tell of one of these experiences. My first baby, when but sixteen days old, died of what the doctors called an inherited disease; so when I was again to become a mother I was exceedingly anxious. I wrote to a practitioner in Buenos Aires, asking for treatment. She began at once, after which a painful ailment disappeared altogether, also all fear and worry, and I looked with happiness to the future. I went to Buenos Aires, and had a few present treatments; the birth was painless, and I experienced very little discomfort after it. My baby is a bright, healthy child, and she has never had any sort of medicine.
I owe a great debt of love and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, our Leader. I am also grateful for the untiring patience with which I was helped along this road that leads to happiness and usefulness. It will be my endeavor so to think and act as to help the cause so dear to our Leader, the cause of Christ.—M. A. Hudson, Rufino, Argentine Republic.
