I wish to add my testimony of thanks to God, out of a...
I wish to add my testimony of thanks to God, out of a truly grateful heart, for what Christian Science has done and is daily doing for me. A little over two years ago I was very much of an invalid. I had a severe nervous trouble, and later an abdominal growth. This latter became so oppressive that it seemed necessary to have a surgical operation. I put the operation off as long as possible, fearing the result on account of other conditions.
Having always been of a religious nature, I prayed earnestly to God for healing, and at one time was anointed with oil, but found no permanent relief. At last I consented to the operation, but it was not a success, as the growth was said to be so attached to the organs that it could not be removed. My physician advised my trying to build up for a second operation, but the first had taxed me so severely that I felt I could not live through another. Very soon a second growth was discovered near my arm, which became inflamed and gave me considerable uneasiness. I was indeed in the depths of despair.
In this condition a Christian Science practitioner found me, and told me that I could soon be well. It seemed to me such a beautiful ray of hope, but how could I believe it? Nevertheless, I found myself holding to the thought of being well and happy. The first treatment relieved me of pain, and I was gently and patiently led into the truth, my erroneous views of God and man changed, and I was given a perfect Principle to depend upon. As my thoughts were turned from things material to things spiritual, I found myself growing stronger day by day. My healing was slow, but built on a firm foundation. I have gradually grown away from thoughts of sickness to thoughts of health, until from being only able to get about a little each day, and that with great pain, I am able to day, and day, and do what my hands find to do.
