For the last eleven years our family of four has relied upon Christian Science for help, mental, physical, and spiritual. Very often I have had an overwhelming desire to express my gratitude, and I now feel that I must at least make an attempt to do so. When I took up Christian Science, I was obliged to study the English language, being a native of Germany and having been in this country only a short time; but I grasped from the very first the fact that there is but one intelligence, one Mind governing man, and with this Mind to guide and lead me, I caught some very beautiful glimpses of Truth from the beginning, enough to realize that my first work must be to think, talk, live differently; that the kingdom of heaven is within, and if within, then everywhere.

It has been proven to me in all these years that Christian Science is the best physician in every case of physical disease, for I have tried other methods. I should like to relate one of our experiences, which was afterward a source of great strength to me. Prior to coming into Christian Science we lost a little boy from poisoning and a little girl from another accident. These experiences left me with a great fear and without hope, and life did not seem very bright to me when I came to this truth; but man's extremity proved to be God's opportunity. I was healed at the first testimonial meeting I ever attended, of this heavy heart. After living in Science for a few years, one of our children got hold of some poison which had been set out for vermin, and he drank a quantity of it. I will not attempt to describe what we went through for one hour. The child experienced all the stages of poisoning, but at the end of an hour he was healed and asked for something to eat. This proof brought to me a new realization of the omnipotence of God, and the nearness and love of God toward those that trust in Him.

I am always grateful for any physical healing, for it means to me "God with us;" but I experience a far greater joy and peace when I see sin conquered. This truth has been to me an educator, a physician, a comforter for many years, so it is no wonder that I am grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for showing us the way to happiness. Her writings and the example of her life have been a great light to my path, and I know will lead me nearer to God and everlasting harmony.
