We hear a great deal said about Christian Science parents leaving their children to suffer by not having materia medica, and I wish to give a fair statement of what Christian Science does for children. Twenty-two years ago a little babe, under medical treatment, was taken from me, leaving me with bitter thoughts toward God for taking my little one, as I then believed He did. My pastor told me it was for some purpose, perhaps to draw me nearer to God; but I had prayed so earnestly for my child to be spared, that I felt I could never pray again. Now, thanks to Mrs. Eddy's teachings in Science and Health, we know how to pray so that our prayers may be answered. No one but a Christian Scientist can tell what a blessing this is. I thank God that I have found this blessed truth, which sets us free spiritually and physically. I have found it a great blessing in bringing up our children. The little ones realize the wonderful help they receive through Christian Science, while still babes. One evening my son's child, who was just beginning to walk, burned his feet very badly. His father carried him half a mile to our home, the little fellow crying all the way, but in an hour's time he was relieved and slept well all night. Next morning he got up and played and ran about. In a few days his feet had healed without a scar.

Two of the little ones had a fever in its very worst form. For a few days it seemed that they could not recover, but by clinging steadfastly to Truth, and realizing those inspiring words of Mrs. Eddy, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494), in one week all discordant conditions had disappeared; the children were able to sit up, and in less than two weeks they were as well as ever. One more proof that Christian Science is what we need for our little ones! A short time ago my husband, who had been sick but was then feeling better, sat eating his dinner. All at once he said he must lie down, but when he tried to rise he fell over and to all appearance was dead. I stood in perfect terror, thinking he was gone. At this moment our little granddaughter, only four years old, came running to my side, and said, "Grandma, God is Love, God is All." These words, uttered by the little one, brought me to a realization of what I was doing. I commenced to declare aloud the truth, and in a few minutes I could see that the child was right. God is All. God is Life, and ever-present divine Truth soon destroyed all evidence of error. I feel certain that had it not been for the little child my husband would not be with us today. How true are the words of Scripture, "A little child shall lead them"!

I send this testimony with the hope that it will encourage other parents to cling to Science and Health as a guide for their little ones, as well as themselves. "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh;" yet words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy for showing us how to understand the Master's teachings. I know that God's blessing will extend over every Christian Science family, and that many more will be brought to accept the truth which sets free the little ones as well as the parents.
