I feel that I must show my gratitude for the many...

I feel that I must show my gratitude for the many benefits I have received in Christian Science by giving this testimony, in the hope that it will help others who are suffering as I was. For several years I had been troubled with severe headaches, which would sometimes end in bilious attacks, unless I kept very quiet. If I took even a short railway journey, it would bring on an attack which sometimes lasted for days, but since coming into Science I have traveled long distances without a sign of illness.

In November, 1907, a friend told me of her healing through Christian Science, and I saw so great a change for the better since the last time I had seen her, which was some weeks before, when the doctors said they had done all they could for her, that I thought I should like to know more of this religion, of which I had never heard until that night. I accordingly went to a Christian Science service the next Sunday. I thought it very impressive, and felt it was the truth that I was hearing. I had attended church all my life, and yearned for something more than I received. I borrowed the text-book of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and afterward bought a copy. I studied earnestly, and attended the services regularly without any thought of physical healing; but after six weeks' reading of that book, I found to my surprise that I had not had a headache since the first service I attended. I was also able to leave off my glasses without any ill effects, and I have never worn them since. I can see perfectly well to read any type, however small, while worry and many other minor ailments have been overcome with the little understanding of the truth I have gained.

I am thankful to God for the physical healing; but more so for the better understanding which Christian Science has given me of the Bible, and for the spiritual awakening I have had. Gratitude is also due to Mrs. Eddy, who was courageous and good enough to show this truth to a waiting world. My daily wish is that I may be a channel for Truth and Love, that I may be able to help others to see their way out of the bondage of material sense into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
