Letters to our Leader
Montery, Mexico, June 10, 1906.
Beloved Leader:—"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." How rich, how fraught with infinite meaning are your wondrous words to us this memorable day! An anthem of praise and thanks-giving wells up in my heart to God, for this manifestation of His loving mercy and goodness to His children. "Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation." I desire to express to you this day, heartfelt congratulations, my loving recognition and appreciation of your beautiful, consecrated life, that you were so responsive and attuned to the Master's call, that you heard "the still, small voice," and by divine inspiration were enabled to resurrect this truth from its grave, and present it to the world in such purity and simplicity, that the little child can demonstrate its healing power.
Unable to be in Boston to-day with the eager, grateful multitude, still I am in unity with them in worship and communion with God in the magnificent new temple dedicated and consecrated to Him, as a monument to Truth, a grateful testimonial of the healing power of the Christ, also a loving tribute to you their revered Leader. This "prayer in stone" means more to the loyal Christian Scientist than stately architecture and beautiful adornment. It is "the structure [in individual consciousness] of Truth and Love" (Science and Health, p. 583), that will always send forth a message of hope and cheer to the weary, and inspire constant endeavor to fulfil the command: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
