Southern India

Tirumangalam, India, Jan. 20, 1906.

I am a poor native of India. Mrs. C. C. Knowles of Corinna, Maine, was so good as to present me with a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," together with some other literature of Christian Science. I am also a reader of the Christian Science Sentinel by her kindness. Before I finished reading half of the Bible, I began to realize the truth and the wonderful revelation of this Science, and I quite appreciate the noble work of Mrs. Eddy. I am now going to give it a deeper and closer study. Christian Science is strange to our people and I hope our friends will be good enough to help us by the donation of literature, that its distribution may help the spread of Science among our folks. I am trying to live the truth in the home and to prove to our Indians that there is only truth or good in Christian Science. India is long accustomed to drug treatment, and to eradicate the poisonous habit requires a strong effort. I would be very thankful for the help of friends in my good purpose and endeavor. Mrs. Knowles was also kind enough to give me good advice and encouragement by her letters. I heartily wish for the growth and prosperity of Christian Scientists. I am thankful to the great God for Christian Science, also thankful to Mrs. Eddy for her untiring love and faithful labor for all the world and for all she has done in bringing to mankind the healing truth. Indeed she is the great Discoverer and beloved Leader of the Science movement. I wish also to express my gratitude to my dear friend in bringing this divine truth to an unknown poor Indian family living in the remotest corner of the world. May God help me in my healing works.—R. Kolandaivelee.
