The Lectures

Judge Septimus J. Hanna delivered a lecture in the Unitarian church last evening [May 24] upon the subject "Christian Science—the Religion of the Bible." He was introduced by Mr. Allan Schley, who referred to the recent tremendous growth among educated people the world over of the Christian Science religion. Mr. Schley also said,—

Our predilections may be life-long and sacredly cherished, our preconceptions may have the permanent stamp of heredity and environment, our prejudices, if you please, may be deep-seated and powerful, but we do not repress free discussion nor bear it false witness. There are, too, the respect and confidence which rest in the statistics of a rapidly growing religious organization of which the churches and societies in our country begin to be numbered by the thousand.—The Journal.
