It gives me pleasure to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science. For more than forty years it has been my only physician. Prior to my introduction to this Science of truth and from early childhood, I was very frail and subject to constant colds, coughs, and sore throat. Various material remedies were tried in order to overcome this tendency, but finally I was told I had a predisposition to tuberculosis. I greatly feared this disease, as it was considered hereditary in my family. What gratitude and joy were mine to find through the study and application of Christian Science that the real man is subject only to God's law of good, the only law!

Since losing my fear of this disease, I have enjoyed good health. I destroyed the contents of a well-filled medicine cabinet and have never been tempted at any time to return to medicine or to any other material remedy. This stand has meant great freedom for me.

The understanding of the perfect law of Love has delivered me many times from illness, fear, unhappiness, and harm. I should like to relate an instance of this protection which occurred while I was traveling by train. After reading the weekly Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, I turned to a copy of The Christian Science Journal, which I had with me, and became very much interested in an article showing the nothingness of matter and the allness of Spirit, God.
