I am so grateful I found Christian Science

I am so grateful I found Christian Science. It came to me in my darkest hour shortly after two loved ones had passed on in quick succession. A dear friend who had been healed in Christian Science after being given up by the doctor came from a distant city and explained to me what Christian Science teaches about the unreality of death.

This friend took me to a Christian Science Reading Room, where I borrowed the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. At first I did not understand it, but I kept on reading. Later I bought the textbook for myself. After entering my children in the Christian Science Sunday School I learned from them how to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. I am grateful for this unfoldment, because the Lesson-Sermons have been a great blessing to me.

Soon after I began to study I had an instantaneous healing of influenza. This was in 1919, when the influenza epidemic was very serious. The people in our neighborhood had been advised to take doses of whisky as a remedy for the disease. A relative brought me a bottle of liquor, placed it on a stand beside my bed, and said that if I did not take it I might die.
