Up to the time of my introduction to Christian Science,...

Up to the time of my introduction to Christian Science, and my healing through it, I had known nothing of it, had never attended a meeting nor read its textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I had heard only that it was a faith that claimed to heal the sick without the use of medicine.

I had been ill for fourteen months with a complication of diseases, which the medical doctors assured us were incurable, and further that nothing could be done for me but gradually to increase the doses of opiates till the end came.

After apparently all hope had gone and the church of which I was then a member had administered the last communion, a dear friend sent me some of the Christian Science literature with a request that I read it and ask for help from Christian Science if I wanted it. I read the literature all night, and the next morning asked the help of a Christian Science practitioner, which was promptly and lovingly given. That very afternoon I received my first treatment, threw away all medicine, and slept all night, the first time in fourteen months, without pain. In less than a week I drove my car three miles to the home of the practitioner. I was then completely cured. That was over two years ago, and I have never had even a slight recurrence of the old trouble. Since then Christian Science has helped and sustained me through several difficult ordeals, the greatest of which was the passing on of my dear husband after thirty-one years of happy married life. I sincerely offer thanks for membership in a branch church; to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower; to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy; and to the practitioner who so lovingly helped me and explained Christian Science to me.
