Light

When shadows deepen and my heart grows weary,
Quite burdened with the weight of sin and woe,
I find a refuge sweet in Love's abiding,
And hear the gentle, "Peace, be still, and know."

The light of day His goodness now revealing—
Unfolding constantly—lifts me above
The sordid things of earth and all its darkness
Into a realm of happiness and love.

No place for sin, or sorrow, or self-pity,
All sense of heaviness and burden gone;
Alone with God, feeling His ever-presence,
My heart is filled with heaven's sweetest song!

Alone with God and glad to do His bidding,
Alone with God, obedient to His will,
I listen for the still, small voice to guide me
To pastures green—I hear the "Peace, be still!"
