To be a student of Christian Science and to know of its...
To be a student of Christian Science and to know of its healing power is a blessing beyond words to express. In the Preface of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy says (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," and I am proving this each day as I put it into practice.
Christian Science has been my only physician since childhood. It has freed me from the many discordant conditions that material law believes children should be subject to at an early age. This great truth was brought into out home by a loving French family when I was very young. Since then many beautiful demonstrations have taken place. Blood poisoning, sprained ankles, constipation, resentment, fear of school examinations, discordant home conditions, and numerous other human ills were overcome through constant study and the loving work of a practitioner.
Immediately after graduating from high school in July, 1934, I applied for entrance into the United States Navy and was accepted. Being under twenty years of age, I wanted to continue my education farther and this seemed the only way to procure sufficient funds to do so. Many of my friends were of the opinion that I had chosen unwisely and that the Navy was not the right place for me. When they voiced this, I held to the thought that God is everywhere and if my rightful place were the Navy, nothing could change it. I was constantly reminded of the verse in the Bible, "Whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever." Many beautiful demonstrations, such as the overcoming of seasickness, advancement in rating, and change of ships, have come about through the application of the truth and obedience to God's requirements. Temptations in the guise of smoking and drinking have not been yielded to for an instant. Everything so far has worked out harmoniously and I know that as I continue in His Word the rest will follow.
