It is with joy and gratitude that this testimony of healing in Christian Science is given.

For five years I had suffered with an illness which caused great distress. The name of the disease was never known. Conscientious and loving help had been given, seemingly to no avail. We, as Christian Scientists, know that a Christian Science treatment is always effective, even though there is no noticeable evidence of progress. I was then directed to a practitioner whose purity of thought expressed peace and comfort. Immediately came an opportunity to serve as librarian in one of the Christian Science Reading Rooms. This was joyfully accepted; the desire to serve and give influenced the acceptance. Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has stated, "Giving does not impoverish us in the service of our Maker, neither does withholding enrich us" (Science and Health, p. 79). During this period of serving, freedom came. The untiring, loving work of the practitioner and the joy in serving on my part resulted in my being lifted up and out of this discordant condition.

After a period of seven years an occasion arose requiring a physical examination. This was made by a reputable physician; the report was perfect health. This again proves what Mrs. Eddy meant when she stated, "Whatever inspires with wisdom, Truth, or Love—be it song, sermon, or Science—blesses the human family with crumbs of comfort from Christ's table, feeding the hungry and giving living waters to the thirsty" (ibid., p. 234).
