Over six years ago Christian Science first came into my life, at a time when I had arrived at the point where nothing seemed to matter. My husband was expected to live for only a few months and I myself was delicate, having been so all my life, and doctors said I would never be very strong. I was, therefore, very much depressed, and would have welcomed what I then thought was the end of all things. Just then Christian Science was brought to our notice by some friends where my husband was working, and I at once got a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to read and study it with the Bible. Almost at once the sense of depression began to disappear.

Soon after I began this earnest study I had a most wonderful healing. While playing golf with some friends I got rather near one of the players, in fact I was standing just behind him and did not know he was going to play when he did. He missed the ball and I got the full force of the iron club as it swung round on the side of my head. An artery was severed and the blood began to pour out. My husband, who was with us, ran up, and the first words I heard him say to me were those of our beloved Leader in Science and Health (p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God;" and with that one thought I was able to walk home, about a quarter of an hour's walk. After getting home I began to feel very ill and so at once got my husband to telephone to a Christian Science practitioner for help. This was most lovingly given and in an hour I was able to sit up and have tea with my friends. Words fail me when I try to express my gratitude for this healing, which was complete. In less than a week not even a scar remained.

I had another healing I would like to mention. I was riding pillion on a motor cycle when another cycle ran into us and knocked me off backwards, my head hitting the road. I was taken to a farmhouse a little way off, quite unconscious. The first words I remember were those of the lady of the house asking me to take some stimulant. I refused, and asked to be left alone with my husband for a little. Needless to say, I was soon all right, and we arrived home only an hour and a half later than expected, having come by bus, as our cycle had been completely smashed.
