Los Angeles Record

A news item which quotes a Los Angeles minister in opposition to the constitutional amendment for the reading of the Bible in the public schools, states that the measure is opposed by a representative of the Christian Science church. In order that the public may not be misled by the item, the Christian Science Committee on Publication for Southern California wishes to say that the Christian Science church has neither requested nor authorized anyone to speak for it regarding the measure. Therefore, no individual member of this church is privileged to speak in its behalf on this subject. Christian Scientists love the Bible and study it continually, but the Christian Science church does not direct how its members shall vote on proposed amendments or on other matters coming up in elections. As the individual members of the church consider governmental questions in the light of the Golden Rule, each is prepared to cast his ballot intelligently according to his highest sense of right.
