Science and Health for the Blind
The Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy have authorized the publication of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy in Revised Braille, Grade One and a Half, for the use of the blind.
In brailling the textbook, the regular ink-print edition has been followed page for page and line for line, as far as it has been found practicable, so that throughout the volumes, with few exceptions, the words on any Braille line are made to correspond with the ink-print line in the textbook. The lines are numbered on the right margin.
The first page in each volume contains a brief but comprehensive explanation of Revised Braille, Grade One and a Half, in raised roman letters easily read by sight, and also the complete Revised Braille alphabet, together with punctuation marks, numerals, word and part-word signs, and compound signs.
The Christian Science textbook in Revised Braille comprises five volumes, 13 x 13¾ inches, varying in bulk, and containing all of the chapters excepting the final chapter on Fruitage. The books are printed on heavy ledger paper, and are substantially bound in fabrikoid. Price of the five volumes, $12.50 the set. Volumes of the textbook for the blind will not be sold singly. Orders and remittances should be sent to Harry I. Hunt, Publishers' Agent, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston, Massachusetts.
FROM THE PUBLISHING SOCIETY
Announcements of Publishing Society items will now be found on the inside front cover of the Sentinel.
Contributions to the Periodicals
Articles and poems from members of The Mother Church and good testimonies from those healed by Christian Science are always welcomed for consideration by the Editors. They should be typewritten (double spaced) or written legibly, on one side of the paper only; and the addresses given should be complete; also, the source of all quotations should be given. Women should use the title "Miss" or "Mrs.," and married women should sign their own names in full, instead of the names of their husbands.
Testimonies should be verified by three members of The Mother Church, who have either witnessed the healing or can vouch for the integrity of the testifier. Preferably, one of the verifiers should be a church officer; in which case the title of the office should be given. An affidavit made before a Notary Public is acceptable if the testifier does not know three members of The Mother Church.
Manuscripts for publication in the Journal and Sentinel, whether articles, poems, or testimonies, and correspondence relating thereto, should not be addressed to individuals, but to the Journal and Sentinel Editorial Department, The Christian Science Publishing Society, Back Bay Station, Boston, Massachusetts.
Compliance with the foregoing will greatly facilitate the work of the Editorial Department.
Source of Quotations
Contributors to the periodicals of articles, poems, and testimonies are asked to note that the source of all quotations, direct or indirect, should be given when the contribution is sent in. The name of the author and of the work from which the quotation is taken, together with the chapter and page, should be specified.
FROM THE CLERK OF THE MOTHER CHURCH
The Tenets of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, for the use of branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, are printed on sheets, containing space for adding the application form of membership in brance organizations, or extracts from their by-laws. These may be obtained in the regular size, and also in a form suitable for binding into booklets containing by-laws. Either size may be ordered from the Clerk at seventy-five cents a hundred, the minimum order; but, unless otherwise specified, the larger size will be sent. Remittances should accompany all orders; but postage stamps should not be sent in payment.
The Tenets may also be obtained in either size, printed on alternate pages in English and German, English and French, or English and Italian.
Correspondence relative to the Tenets should be addressed to Ezra W. Palmer, Clerk, 206 Massachusetts Avenue, Back Bay Station, Boston, Massachusetts.
FROM THE CHURCH TREASURER
Per Capita Tax as provided in the Church Manual, Article VIII, Section 13, is due annually from "every member of The Mother Church," and "shall be forwarded each year to the Church Treasurer." This tax of "not less than one dollar" may be paid at any time during the year, but should be forwarded preferably during the six months' period from October to March following the date on which it becomes due. Unless the facts indicate otherwise, the entire amount received is credited to the close of the present church year,—that is, in full to May 1, 1929.
Contributions to The Christian Science Benevolent Association, to The Christian Science Pleasannt View Home, and to the various Funds of The Mother Church, such as the General Fund, the Real Estate Fund, the Endowment and Extension Fund, and the Charitable Institutions Fund, are acceptable.
