Perthshire Advertiser
Your recent issue publishes a short synopsis of an address on "Christian Science" by a clergyman. From the few remarks that are published it is clearly seen that he has not understood the subject. Christian Science teaches that God is Life, and that therefore Life never began and will never end. Thus the false, temporary sense of life of mortals is not the true sense of Life. Mortal life and immortal Life are two diametrically opposite concepts. Since immortal Life is true, a mortal sense of life must be false. If the critics of Christian Science would only study more closely and gain a clearer perception of the difference between the carnal or mortal mind, which Paul terms "enmity against God," and the divine Mind, the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus," they would be able to comprehend the difference which Christian Science draws between the two.
Christian Science is true Christianity, and it does not, as our critic avers, believe in a pantheistic God. It declares that God is infinite Spirit, and that His infinite manifestation is spiritual and not material. Infinite Spirit can never be in so-called matter, nor manifested through it.
