To dispel misapprehension on the part of your readers,...

To dispel misapprehension on the part of your readers, please accept this correction of the reference to Christian Science in your recent issue. Christian Science holds that God is All-in-all, as the Scriptures imply. This divine allness includes no matter or material concept, but signifies that God is wholly spiritual. Although both matter and sin claim existence and power, Christian Science rejects their attempted dominance and teaches obedience to God alone. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, may be read these words (p. 447): "A sinner is not reformed merely by assuring him that he cannot be a sinner because there is no sin. To put down the claim of sin, you must detect it, remove the mask, point out the illusion, and thus get the victory over sin and so prove its unreality." Surely a religion which enjoins forsaking evil and adhering to good is following the Scriptural exhortation, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good," and is antipodal to any teaching "anti-Christian" or "heathen."
