It is with a sense of deepest gratitude that I send this testimony of the healing and regenerating power of Truth as taught in Christian Science. My first experience, several years ago, was the healing of a distressing condition of the lungs. This was accomplished in a few days by absent treatment; and the healing has been permanent.
Not being sufficiently grateful for this proof of God's care, I at the time did not take up the systematic study of Christian Science, but would only turn to it for help when an inharmonious condition presented itself, frequently turning at other times entirely from it to other systems. Finally, such confusion and chaos presented themselves that I was forced to see that human systems were useless to aid me; and in this extremity I turned for the first time whole-heartedly to Christian Science. Through the healing of bad temper and bitter sarcasm, apparently produced by mistreatment by others, I have found true peace and the understanding of what constitutes true friendship and brotherhood. I have been healed of the desire for alcohol and tobacco, and my one earnest desire is that I may in increasing measure help others to realize that the statement of our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494), is true now, and is being proved in the destruction of all kinds of inharmonious conditions.
For the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, also for the joy of class instruction, I am profoundly grateful. Through the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, I am learning of the ever-presence of the one God and His Christ; and this understanding is my strength and inspiration.
